What is raku?
Raku is a low-temperature firing approach with roots in 16th-century Japan. In contemporary practice, pieces are pulled from the kiln red-hot and placed in combustible materials, creating dramatic crackle and smoke-marked surfaces. Each firing is unique, so every piece is truly one-of-a-kind.
