In Hopi tradition, katsinam are spiritual messengers, and katsina carvings have traditionally been given with prayers for growth and well-being. The flowing curves of the wood, carved hair and feathers, sculpted robe, colorful geometric details and intricately carved base make this an especially distinctive one-of-a-kind piece.
The underside is inscribed “Hopi – Hand Mana” and bears the artist's distinctive signature and markings.
