Timothy Chapman
Timothy Chapman was born and raised in Phoenix. After receiving his undergraduate degree in Biology from Occidental College near Los Angeles, he went on to get his BFA from Arizona State University and then his MFA from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville. Acrylic painting ultimately became his medium of choice.
Chapman has shown his work in places ranging from Coolidge, Arizona (solo exhibition, Central Arizona College) to Florence, Italy (2001 Florence Biennale). His paintings can be seen in Phoenix Children’s Hospital and Denver Children’s Hospital. Stevie Nicks and Christine McVie are among his more well-known collectors.
In 2007, Timothy Chapman was honored to have been chosen by the U.S. State Department’s “Art in Embassies” Program to display his paintings in the U.S. Embassy in Tunisia and to have several pieces acquired for the permanent colleciton in Myanmar. In September of 2014, Chapman travelled to Nairobi with the Program where he met with local artists and held lectures and critiques with high school and university students. And as of December 2023, he is scheduled to have two pieces shipped to a group exhibition in the U.S. Embassy in Bangkok, Thailand.
